Council Elections 2016 - Anyone Bothered?!

Apr 29, 2016 10:35

In around 6 days, I'll be working at a polling station, as the UK votes for Councillors; is anyone in any way arsed or is all the political focus on the EU vote in June?!

Voting is important so I'll be doing it, and I care very much about the result. I unfortunately live right in the middle of Tory middle class hell, so anything I can do to piss them off? Totally all for it.

Ah, unlucky. You should join the campaign for Proportional Representation in this country - http://www.electoral-reform.org.uk/proportional-representation - so it may affect things a bit more!

I was pleasantly surprised to see some labour and green supporters in my area, but it is overwhelmingly conservative. To my absolute horror, there was a police commissioner candidate for the English Democrats on the ballot. They're as bad as folks like Britain First.

Thanks for the link, I've signed up.

Yes, it's not all Tories down South and all Labour up North, but you might think so, thanks to the backwards system of representation!

Oh dear, the English Democrats are arguably worse than UKIP, thankfully they have ten men and their dog interested in supporting them!

No worries, thanks for joining!

I'll be voting and am incredibly excited by it - it's my first one that I'm eligible for!
