This week's groceries totalled $89.12 - precoupons and "store loyalty card" it was $126. Had I not needed two packages of batteries, I could have kept it to under $75 (dayum, batteries are expensive these days! even on sale).

p.s. I cannot tell you how bad batteries are for the environment, and how bad anything disposable is on our wallets. I know that rechargeables are an investment, but even if you can afford a four pack every couple weeks within a couple months they will have paid for themselves. EVERY SINGLE FREAKING TOY that my daughter has that is battery operated takes three batteries. It is not like she has that many but at three batteries a pop it adds up. After a year or so of buying a four pack or bulk pack at costco when we could afford it we now have a steady rotation and I cannot remember the last time we bought a battery. :)

You are totally right about the batteries...I should investigate. I have visions of the earliest "rechargable" batteries from the 80's, with a clunky machine and a 24 hour "charge" and they drained so quickly. It was a nightmare. I'll need to look in to this.

re batteries: little tiny chargers that charge 4 at a time. Staright at the socket. (I know of the 80's chargers of which you speak lol) And the new ones do a quick charge in twentyish minutes I think. I don't know how long they last because mine are from back in 2005? and they take a few hours (I think maybe 6 from drained empty but less for say AAA and half charged AA's). And at the prices of name brand AA's these dyas, 8 bucks for a pack of four is not totally unreasonable.
There, I'm done. It is just that batteries are soooo terrible for the environment you know?
