Soldiers in the trenches of the Great War weren't always fighting or moving. They had time to reflect or write. People in the Great War were not prepared for modern warfare. With mobilization, chemical warfare, improved artillery, and more, it was quite a shock for ordinary people turned soldiers to bare. From this there came a new era in poetry ( Read more... )
