...I suddenly felt the need to update this journal. Hm. :|a Okay, recent-ish news:
I've recently fallen in love with Umineko No Naku Koro Ni but if you follow me on twitter you probably know that because I JUST CAN'T SHUT UP ABOUT IT sorry BUT I CAN TALK SO MUCH ABOUT HOW AMAZING AND BRILLIANT IT IS. Also while playing the hidden tea party of EP5 I've basically had a huge eureka moment and went "Of course! THAT'S what it's all about! ...BRILLIANT!". Basically, UMINEKO IS AWESOME AND YOU SHOULD PLAY IT (especially if you like logic battles and blood and moe magnificent bitches who happen to be witches and rather psychotic and discussions about both the mystery genre and humanity and other stuff that this series is made up of). Battler is my favoriiite ♥♥♥♥ Another a good option is reading the manga which is what I did in the beginning, though only the first episode's manga is complete so far but it's awesome. (The anime isn't all that bad but compared to the VN, it's crap and left out way too much- not that I blame it, really. They had to sum up the entire first four arcs into 26 episodes :|) I've also managed to get the (officialy translated) Higurashi sound novel, though only the first four arcs, and it's just as awesome despite the rather bad translation (but it's the most I can get for now ;-; aaah how I wish I could read Japanese). I also read most of the mangas for the last four arcs (except Matsuribayashi-hen), and saw bits and pieces of the anime- most of the second seaosn, at least, which is gorgeous. Also I saw the entire OVA/Rei. I kind of regret getting into Umineko first now lol because of the various little references to Higurashi in there make so much more sense and are more enjoyable if you are familiar with it first. And my favorite character is Keiichi! ...Noticing a pattern here? haha orz
By the way, I'm pretty sure I'm the only person in the entire fandom who ships George/Shannon. ;-; my OTP is unloved.
And I've also seen Darker Than Black and it's a fucking awesome show and I recommend it to everyone. Seriously. Watch it. One way to look at it is a very Japanese deconstruction of the superhero genre, but I can't really describe this show because it speaks for itself so well so I find it difficult to find the right words. For the record, Hei is the greatest thing ever ♥ I remember finding him amazingly creepy in the earlier episodes, but now I kind of like it because, well, creepy main characters who are still quite heroic in an odd way are rare. Though Hei would probably be a total villain if this series was all from the point of view of any character from the other side. Then again, sides and morality are complicated in this show...and Kirihara is the point of view character a few times...
...I should get a life. By the way, it's finally summer vacation for me! Amazingly how quickly this year passed. I'm just glad I'll be going to a two-week course in theater and not spending the entire two months inside ;3; like I mostly did last summer. WOAH I CAN STILL REMEMBER IT... can't believe it's almost been a year! And I still haven't changed much. Ahahaha. Well at least my art skill has gotten a little better.
