Weeeeeelll, not to be harshing of the squee, but I was a bit meh on this one. It's not that I don't like Garth, it's just that I don't care about him one way or the other. It's a lot like the Ghostfacers, where the writers think that someone being bad at hunting and kind of socially awkward is a lot more hilarious than it is.
And Ghost!Bobby? I'm so ambivalent about Ghost!Bobby. I kind of feel like it takes away from the impact of his death. Only that last scene when Dean didn't see him kind of got to me, ahem. But it was just telegraphed so far in advance, you know? I would've absolutely loved it if all those clues turned out to be anything other than Ghost!Bobby, just because it would have been a surprise. (For a second there with the sliding sword I got this irrational hope that Dean had developed psychic powers. AU :D? Cause, I mean, Dean would deal with psychic powers soooo badly.)
I'm glad we got a bit of continuity on Cas, that they're talking to Meg and not totally okay with that situation. I'm glad Sam is not totally okay yet, and that he feels guilty about Cas taking his crazy. I loved seeing the boys briefly drunk and their inability to improvise like they usually do, and the nod to how much Dean drinks.
So now can someone examine the ep in depth and pick out all the little ways it's actually about Dean's alcohol problem? Pretty please? Because it's probably fanwankable, but I don't have the brain for it right now.
Also I think I figured out how to posts gifs finally, so thumbs up for me if this works. :)
ETA: Oh also, I loved the little moment where Sam admitted he went a little nuts with the Ouija board and all, and Dean was like "why didn't you tell me?" and Sam was like "I was a little nuts," and that's probably a very inaccurate quote, but it kind of killed me, because it was such a simple thing to say but there was so much weight behind it for both of them okay I'm going away now.
