From March 16th in the unborn hours of every morning Joel stands naked on the balcony of the hotel they are staying at. He waits until dew forms, or the raindrops fall in the container he holds reverently in his hands. The city air is always filthy and Joel comes inside with a new illness and a bottle that slowly fills.
He hides it in a closet only he knows about.

From the 16th of March Benji drives until he is in the middle of somewhere. He climbs out of his fancy car and rolls around in the dirt like a dog. After countless hours he picks up a rock off the side of the road, places it under the seat of his car and returns home.

Every night they return to each other, Joel frozen and ill, Benji filthy and chocking. The country changes, the routine remains the same.

Every night their bodies become mud as they scream, scratch, bite, destroy. Everyone knows to stay away from their room as they have cover up sex.

Their friends call it ‘making children’s pies’. They say they are lacking the piecrust.

Once a year on the 15th of March two packages arrive at the door of whatever hotel they happen to be staying at. One is addressed to Benji, the other to Joel. One contains a small glass jar filled with off-colored water, whilst the other is a large box filled with 365 dirty stones.

It is on that night once a year that for a brief moment they both believe they are the perfect element, yet one day still hoping to be indissoluble.
