My hair is really fine so I've found having it short and in layers has helped. I also ask my hairdresser to thin it out when she cuts it. I don't know if this would work for you. When I was younger my hair was shoulder length and looked like a big fuzzy mop. Now it's not too bad. Best bet is probably having a word with your hairdresser. That's what I did before having the style I have now. They also suggested colours and what would work etc. :D
Hmm. My hair is quite fine, but I have a LOT of it, which made life difficult. Now that I have a good hairdresser, though, things are much better. Probably best to go to someone good and ask their professional opinion on what cut would suit best, but I get mine with long layers, and she 'texturizes' it a bit (basically thinning it out at the ends) with weird scissors... works for me!
