Why do I distrust everyone? I look so often for the flaws, the telltale signs of humanity. I know I will find them and yet I still look and am still disappointed. What do I expect to see? Where could I ever find perfection? Certainly not here, not among us. Not this, no not this

I was in cogsci the other day and we watched a video about a man who couldn't remember anything. his past was completely lost and he was incapable of making any new memories. the only things he could do in life were mechanical, instinctual things. except, in the case of his wife. every time he saw his wife he lept to his feet with such joy...he embraced her with such love...even though he couldn't remember how she got there or how long she'd been there he still knew her and loved her. to me that was so truly amazing...I never thought such a thing was possible.

that's one of the funny things about life. we can be so sure about something that we take it to be true...but then in an instant find to our glad surprise that we were wrong all along. I hope you're wrong and that some day you're going to find someone who will make you laugh at all the doubt you felt before.
