0167: [Accidental Video, Action]

Jul 17, 2011 17:36

[Rain's always looked much younger than she is. Which serves her well on the streets of Vegas. Not many people pay too much attention to, or worry much about a young, innocent looking street kid.

She wanders a bit, 'accidentally' bumping into someone here and there, always very apologetic, even as she divests them of their wallet or loose cash or ( Read more... )

[Now, what's this kid up to? There's just a cowboy (apparently--that's what he looks like, at least) leaning up against his horse motorcycle, watching the people on the street. He'd been about to take off again, but... This kid is up to something. He's not sure exactly what, but he has some suspicions.

This might be some of why he wins a lot: he's perceptive.

Anyway: watching...]

[Rain was looking up at one of the marquees as a handsome man walked by. She 'stumbled' and let him help her back up - and let her hand slide into his pocket to help herself to his wallet, which disappeared into the fabric bag she was carrying.]

"I'm so very sorry, sir. I didn't mean -" she blushed and ducked her head. "You're very kind."

[She hurried off further down the street.]

[Oh, well, that explains that.

BRB, following--! Well, casually, at least, bringing along the bike.]

[Rain paused in a dark doorway to go through the wallet, taking the money out and counting it along with the rest of what she'd already gotten. She nodded to herself, then slipped into one of the hotels to drop off the wallet at the front desk, explaining innocently that she'd found it on the street.

After that she scurried off to a market to buy a few bags of food and lug them off into a back alley. She gave one to a couple of scraggly looking kids there, scolding them and gesturing for them to get back in the empty looking house and off the street. Then she was off again, heading for another dark alley with the remaining bags.]

[A young guy in a grey sweashirt, hood pulled up over unkept hair and shadowing eyeliner-ringed eyes, spies her at a casino buffet-- he's seen her around before, and he's pretty sure he knows what her game is. He's pretty bored right now, so he figures he might as well offer a hand.]

Hey.

[Rain looked at him warily.]

Hi...

[He nods to a far corner of the room.] Guy over there, grey suit. High roller but he won't buy from me. [It's possible that he sounds a little bitter about this.] Nice watch, wears it loose.

[Her eyes go wide.]

Why are you telling that to me? I'm just having some lunch.

[And stuffing as much of it as she can get away with in her bag.]

[A snappily attired young gentleman strides confidently down the streets, a rare kindness glistening in the back of his eyes. To all appearances, he is soft, too much so for the often rough streets of the city, but then, why does he seem so sure of himself?

He nears Rain as he walks down the sidewalk, merely intending to pass her by, but he nods politely and flashes a smile.]

[She smiles at him, then trips, nearly falling and innocently grabs at him to keep herself upright, clever fingers searching at his pockets.]

Oh! So sorry, sir!

[His face softens with quiet shock, seeming perfectly innocent himself.]

Oh, that's quite alright, miss-

[And that's all he says, even as he reaches to grab her wrist as she rifles through his pockets, attempting with his own grip to make her drop the oddly decorative pocketknife he carries. Gilded and painted with a swan, it would fetch a pretty penny, but the value it carries for him is a bit more than that, and the force of his slender fingers are a fair demonstration of that. Still, he doesn't seem threatening.]

I'd like it if you didn't do that...

[She lets go of it instantly.]

Oh, sorry, sir. My hand just slipped in there. I didn't mean - I wouldn't have taken anything from you!

[He's strong and even though he doesn't seem threatening, she's nervous. Pretty much nobody ever catches her. Not in a long time anyway.]
