Canon: Angel Sanctuary
Character: Teial
Timeline: After her death in volume six.
Personality: Teial is not one to say much and is accustomed to taking care of herself. At any given time she prefers to keep quiet and withdraw from the world around her. Even in moments where she should speak up for herself she chooses not to. Any other person would lash out or yell at someone who would mistreat them cruelly, but not Teial. Instead, she had disciplined herself to keep her head down and wait it out. Instead of blaming them she goes as far as taking pity because of how they react to something they do not know or understand. To her, it isn't their fault, and so she continues to hold her tongue.
In the instances where she does open her mouth it's usually to make an observation. She'll bring to light hidden feelings and thoughts that the one she is speaking to is trying to hide. There are times where it doesn't go over so well; Something in which she is still learning to understand. Teial means well but at times she forgets that some things truly are better left unsaid. She doesn't hide anything from another because from her own personal experiences, it tends to come out in the end.
There is a kind side to her too. While in appearance her expression is blank and revealing of little, the child is capable of smiling. There is a tendency for her to be wary, not to mention her ability to trust another is limited. Even if she doesn't blame others for how they treat her she still fears them all the same. No one enjoys being subjected to that sort of abuse. But in the rare case that Teial finds someone to not only trust in but even go as far as to accept her for who she is, she can be a very sweet little angel. And to them she will be forever loyal and caring to.
Background: Never had anyone been good or kind to Teial in her short life as an angel in Heaven. Due to her strange ability the other angels feared what she could do. And it was that fear that developed into anger and hatred, subjecting her to harsh cruelty by them. It went as far as they locking her away in the dungeons, closed off from every living thing with only the company of corpses in the darkness. For days she remained there alone. She was all-alone with the exception of the thoughts that lingered from the dead and dying.
Finally, when it came to a point where if she did not eat she would have starved. The thoughts of the dead encouraged her to eat their flesh in order to survive and finally, she did. The newest body that had died became the sustenance she needed to live. But for all that it was worth, she believed she should have just died then. Not long after words an adult managed to save her from the dungeon only to have it found out that she ate the flesh of another angel. Shunned even more so those of Heaven, they had her branded with the mark of a Fallen Angel before being caste away to the slums. And it was there that she remained, struggling to live one day at time. In the end she simply closed herself off and accepted the abuse of others, cowering and waiting for the stones to stop hitting her before pulling herself up to find a place to sleep.
One day an old woman found her, offering to take her to a good shelter where she would be feed, clothed and cared for properly along with other children that were found in the slums. But upon accepting this gesture she soon found out that it was nothing more than a lie. It was not she who would be fed, but the struggling mess of cable and clumps of flesh known as Katan. The old woman had been hired by Rosiel to find food for Katan. And the food was that of angel flesh.
But instead of running and cowering in terror, Teial merely sat with her back to the wall as calm as ever, watching as Katan devoured the screaming children one by one. And when the time came her to meet her fate, she accepted it quietly and only asked that when he ate her if he would do so cleanly.
In the time that she spent with the undistingishable mass that was the struggling angel, she became attached to Katan. He was the first and only one to ever show her kindness and accept her for who she was. She even made a promise to escape with him so that he could start his own life anew, away from Rosiel and everything that was happening in Heaven. And while she took comfort in this promise, deep down she knew it was just another lie, this time a lie she had created herself. She saw in his memories and sensed his emotions of how strongly he felt for Rosiel. How no one could ever replace him in his heart. And that was why when her death finally came when Dobiel and his men attacked Rosiel, and ultimately Katan and Teial, she could smile at Katan and tell him this. In her last moments she asked Katan if she would finally be able to meet God when she die, to ask him the one simple question that has been haunting her mind during her life: Did he love them?
Abilities/Additional Notes: Teial has the ability to sense emotions and read the thoughts of others. I’ll set up a permission form of course for other players to fill out, should they wish to allow her to read their character’s thoughts and emotions whenever she met them in person.
