Now I remember why I stopped going to school!
I'm SO fucking pissed off right now.
It's really just one more thing on the long list of how fucked up I think our educational system runs.
I enrolled for college today (returning student). Went in to pay for my class. Why did I have to go in? Because online enrollment is a joke. A big fucking wanking JOKE! And it gets worse and worse every year. Now EVERYTHING is online. Even when you go IN to register they redirect you to a computer. While this is good in most ways, it sucks ASS in others. You deal with a system that gives out questions for the status quo that may not apply, and or there is often missing information.
Three of the community colleges where I live (SoCal) all banded together, for which one can assume would mean easier enrollment, matriculation, registration, etc, right? NO. Each college doesn't even have their own schedule/book anymore it's all in one. And it's ONLY online (you have to pay or print out a physical.) So you go online to their website -where they all tell you to go- to register, you create an account, etc. Once you do you fuck around and try to pick your classes. This is difficult in itself, it's very hard to view all the necessary class info. The layout and function REALLY should be revised.
Yes, so you pick your classes, fine. THEN some how or other you have to go to the specific school site. Or it's maybe just after you've made an account? Anyway YOU HAVE TO DO IT AGAIN! Why? Because the same user/pass will NOT work. YOU HAVE TO GO THROUGH ALL THAT FUCKING SHIT AGAIN AND MAKE ANOTHER ACCOUNT! Really. EPIC FUCKING FAIL!
So I did. I got my classes, only now one of them is closed? WTF. It was like completly empty awhile ago. WTFEver. Now fine, I have a summary of my class and cost, only it's lacking a parking permit. Let me just say, this so called 'summary screen', is pathetic. It should have a list of payment options, what to do now, etc -it doesn't. There is a great big summit payment button, but I'm NOT paying by credit card -and I'm not finished, I want a permit.
So now we get to the reason WHY I had to go in, because I sure as hell wasn't going to call them for the fourth fucking time. I thought I'll go in, make sure I'm in the system, and cut a check for the lot. Then there done. NO. I go in -well short(haha, yes short version now) Iam in the system, I do cut a check and pay fees, BUT get this shit. YOU CAN ONLY GETTING A PERMIT ONLINE. That means I have to go online fill in a new form with ALL my vehicle information -THAT in itself is WTF- and pay BY CREDIT CARD ONLY!
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? And I said as much. That means I have to fuck around online again fill out a whole NEW form and pay by CREDIT CARD!
Now to get a permit it used to be SIMPLE. The whole fucking registration process used to be easier. You totalled you classes, your fees, and it was a matter of CHECKING A FUCKING BOX AND ADDING IN THE ADDITIONAL PERMIT FEE, then you could pay by CASH, CHECK, OR CREDIT CARD for the WHOLE FUCKING THING AND BE DONE!
WHY? WHY? Really this is just the icing on the cake for me. There's ALOT of fucking shit I find a joke with the whole educational system in general. Most of which actually deals with the educational part. I think it's just shit like this that stirs it all up for me.
So I feel a bit better now. I'm still pretty pissed off. I need a drink and a hot shower, then maybe I can distract myself with thoughts of Leverage tonight.
