This is sad. The first part was familiar to me - if you love someone and they don't want you, it's interesting to watch them love someone else. Sort of coldly dissecting it, for some reason, as if it makes it any easier. That hit home.

In situations like this, it does feel like the universe is playing tricks on you. I've lived through similar feelings, and the wonderful thing is that eventually, it doesn't feel quite so raw.
