Aperture 2.0 on a 12" PowerBook

I own a 12" PowerBook with a GeForce FX Go5200 graphics card. For whatever reason that I've yet to discover, Apple has declared the GeForce FX Go5200 ‘bad’ as far as Aperture 2.0 is concerned, and attempting to install it (the trial version, at least) results in the message: “Your video card does not meet the minimum requirements to run this ( Read more... )

Or you could buy a new MacBook? (I am one to talk, clutching my crusty, but trusty, 15" Powerbook to my bosom)

For real fun you want to try installing Logic Pro. Is there a bash/vim way of making me have the requisite 2 fupping Gb of RAM and a bazillionity Gb HDD space it needs to run? Or is that an emacs issue?

trial serial # will not work anonymous February 23 2008, 16:06:52 UTC
After trying your solution to installing Aperture 2.0 on a 12" Powerbook the program goes ahead and allows installation of the license agreement then it refuses to accept the trial serial number.

Interesting.

I requested a trial serial number from Apple.com, and it worked for me. What exactly is it complaining about? From what you say I don't think it has anything to do with Apple's assertion that the GeForce FX Go5200 is inadequate for Aperture 2.0.

Check your serial number is actually valid…

(My copy of Aperture 2 has allegedly been dispatched. I'll update the entry in a couple of days.)

Did you copy the contents of the DMG to your hard drive? You may need to change the permissions to allow writing after copying it over: Ctrl-Click -> Get Info -> Ownership and Permission, change to Read & Write, then Apply to enclosed items.
