I've decided: Harmonian fans are far, far scarier than Whedonites. For real.

The sustained temper-tantrum going on in Community online fandom is awesome to behold. Look, I'm sorry Sony decided to replace Dan Harmon since he was basically the show-runner auteur, but the fact of the matter is that most of the writing staff, production crew, and all ( Read more... )

Yeah, it's sad thart Sony replaced him, but the sustained poo-flinging is getting on my nerves.

Fandom seems to have lost a little perspective here.

Slightly off topic, but at first glance I assumed that 'Harmonian fans' referred to fans of Spider Robinson's Callahan's books.

I thought that she was referring to the ultra-zealous Harry Potter/Hermione Granger shippers. (Which is also the meaning that Urban Dictionary gives for the term.)

I'm pretty upset about Harmon being replaced, but I'm not raging against the machine. I'm more scratching my head over how Sony thinks they're going to grow an audience for a show in its fourth season by firing the show-runner whose voice captured its current fan base. I believe that its possible that Community can still be a good show, but it won't be the same show, and from a business perspective, this seemed like an odd decision. I will be tuning in come September because I love the cast and many of the writers I like are staying on, but I do wonder the impact this move will have on its ratings.

Agree on the Times-Picayune. That was a really good paper. I'm terribly conflicted about the state of the newspaper industry...

I love consuming news online (above and beyond how integral online news is to my work) and I also do like acess to journalism for free. And I do consume a lot of it. I've still got my subscription to the Post, and I actually do read the print every day, but signs aren't good. That paper is still kind of healthy, but they've had major cutbacks and I think have had a marked downturn in both volume and quality of content.
