Holy crap. It's been awhile since I've ficc'd.
I think I needed a pleasant distraction for myself. And this seemed...well...not easy, but at least a fun challenge.
Part 2 will probably be posted next weekend.

I missed the very beginning of this story when I read it in the comment thread, and I was pleased to see a bit more added at the end. As I said before, I love your dialogue and your characterization is spot on. The entire exchange in the study room felt authentic, I could picture each character speaking those lines.
Eventually hanging out would lead to sex back at his place. What? Did anyone honestly believe there wasn’t sex involved with the liking Vaughn part when she almost moved to Delaware? Seriously?
THANK YOU. I'm always perplexed by fics where all Annie and Vaughn did was kiss. And Annie's inability to say "coming soon" with its obvious sexual implications is believable even in the wake of her graphic depiction in Advanced Dungeons & Dragons. I think it's safe to say she's not as repressed as she was back in early S1, but she's still got a ways to go. It felt very true to her character.
Poor Annie. Her four step plan is very telling about Jeff's behavior and clearly doomed to fail. Can't wait to read the rest!

That makes two of us! (Obviously.) Besides, I'm pretty sure Dan Harmon in the commentary for "Pascal's Triangle Revisited" specifically stated that the reason why they hooked Annie up with Vaughn was to "dirty her up" (which, um, eeewwww!) so that if they ever decided to hook Jeff and Annie, Annie wouldn't be completely in over her head.
I swear that Harmon always came across a schizophrenic on the subject of Annie and Jeff. The problem is, by the end of S3, he seemed pretty schizophrenic about Community as a whole ( ... )

Dan did say that was the whole point of Annie dating Vaughn, an older guy. So when I see Annie being cast as a near-virgin in J/A fics, I'm always left scratching my head. And I agree that some fans are worse than the show. They seem to not grasp that this is the very reason people accuse J/A of being creepy. And I don't understand why they'd want to deny Annie that character growth.
Dan did seem pretty schizophrenic about Community as a whole by the end, so much so that I debated even listening to the DVD commentary. Some of his comments episode to episode were enough to give me whiplash.

I love stories where Annie's into another guy and Jeff gets all protective and jealous and is totally unconvincing that he's doing it in a platonic way.

Oh, and this? So true:
Everyone else in the group can not only date as many people as they want, they can also have sex with every single person they date. Including sex with Chang! That’s right, Chang! And the most negative reaction might be an epic eye roll followed by a snarky comment.
But let her so much as side-eye a hypothetical cute guy and you’d think she was committing first-degree murder in broad daylight in front of multiple witnesses.
