More new girls...?

Rumours always spread quickly through the school, especially with new girls and your roommate was the one guiding her to her room. Though Liz didn't go to welcome the new girl immediately; she must be tired from all the travelling and Liz didn't want to show up empty-handed ( Read more... )

Sasha groaned as she heard a knock on the door. Probably another annoying administrator wanting to talk about her schedule. She flung the door open. "Что ёто?" she snapped at whoever was unfortunate enough to be on the other side.

She frowned when she saw that it wasn't an administrator, but a girl probably around her age with a basket. "What is this?" she asked suspiciously. "Who are you?"

Liz almost took a step back at the rather unfriendly manner of the girl and the unfamiliar language she spoke in. But luckily she spoke some English as well and Liz wanted to give it a try anyway.

"I-I'm Liz, Miss Mironova," she stammered in response. "Liz Riley. A-And... I thought... These are for you. They're cookies, I made them myself. I thought that... well, since we're sort of neighbours... It wouldn't be such a bad idea to introduce myself to you?" Liz gave Sasha a shy, but still friendly smile as she extended the basket to her.

"Liz Riley," she repeated.

Sasha took the basket and peered inside. "This is food for me?" she said quietly, eyeing the girl in front of her. She figured that the rest of what she'd said had been an explanation, but her English wasn't good enough to understand it yet. "Thank you. Спасибо."
It was the sort of thing that would typically make her suspicious -- no one ever went out of their way to do something nice for her, after all -- but this girl somehow reminded her of Kolja, small and timid. If she was trying to poison her, she was a very good actress.

Liz smiled warmly when the basket was accepted with a 'Thank you', as well as with something in a language she'd never heard before. But the sense of gratefulness remained the same with the unknown word that it wasn't hard to guess it meant 'thank you' as well, just in a different language.

"You are... not from around here, are you?" Liz blushed a bit before asking as slowly as she could, "Where are you from?"
