The short story: I made it, and am checked into a hotel, and have found myself an internet cafe so I can tell everyone that I'm safe.  It's really warm here, I've been overheating in a t-shirt.

lmao. You're right, that doesn't sound very promising. Nevertheless, the Pantheon and Notre Dame were *right* where they claimed. The Seine, too. And today I got a double room for the price of a single, so ... it could be worse. :)
