Okay, the details are
here, but basically the deal is this: you compose a mixtape, one song per each of the criteria listed, in order, upload the tracks and/or do coverart if you want to (I'm skipping that stuff myself - lazy) and then post a link to your tracklist
HERE.
1.
In The Belly Of the Whale - Newsboys wakes me up in the morning - not regularily, or anything, but if I'm having a blah day, and I'm tired, and this comes up on my playlist, I'll be awake, bopping my head, and grooving before the first verse is over. It's audio caffeine. I love it.
2. I loved
Your Woman - White Town in high school - and if you're feeling freudian, you can blame that on my being bi - or vice/versa.
3.
We Didn't Start the Fire - Billy Joel mentions a dead celebrity. - in fact it mentions a lot of dead celebrities. It's a dead celebrity smorgasboard! :)
4. I'd be embarrassed to listen to
I Touch Myself - Jack Off Jill with my grandmother - though you have to know my grandmother to appreciate how tough this is - I'd listen to The Internet is For Porn with my Grandmother, for Christ's sake! But JOJs version of this somehow trandsends dirty... so yeah. No listening to it with Gramma Dolly for me.
5. MTV will never play
Canada's Really Big - The Arrogant Worms in a million, billion years - along with all the wacky Fannish songs, or anything by Interrobang Cartel or Seven Seconds of Love, or any of the truly obscure, weird shit I've got - but this is just so funny as a selection for that criteria, I couldn't resist. :)
6.
S-E-X-X-Y - They Might Be Giants has a title that ends in y - and they even underline that by constantly spelling it. :)
7.
Sex and Candy - Marcy Playground makes me crave something - but what in specific varies. ^_^
8.
The Best is Yet To Come - James Darren and Avery Brooks is a cover song that I think is better than the original - and all props to Frankie Blue-Eyes, but Avery's voice is like pure liquid velvet sex, poured over ice and then trickled down your throat. This song also has the advantage of reminding me of one of my favourite DS9 episodes ever -
Badda-Bing, Badda-Bang, which had this over the credits instead of the theme. Beautifull.
9.
The Best is Yet to Come - Frank Sinatra is the original of #8 - as far as I know. And I'll admit - part of my criteria for #8 was picking a song I not only wouldn't have to go out and DL for #9, but wouldn't be ashamed of and liked almost as much.
10.
Harder to Breathe - Maroon5 reminds me of a fandom OTP - specifically, Smith/Gemini. And to be fair, I have a lot of songs that do, but this one is pretty firmly tied in my mind to a specific OTP, and I have trouble thinking of the song in other terms. Also it's the most obscure of my OTPs, and deserves a little more spotlight time.
11. I have been caught mouthing the lyrics to
I Love My Lips - Veggie Tales - as well as almost everything on my playlist, but this is one of the ones I'm most embarassed about, 'cause gosh it looks silly.
12.
Crabbukkit - K-OS will always make me think of a movie - specifically - and this is weird, and maybe cheating - it makes me think of James Dell Up Over - a movie I'm writing. The two have married themselves together in my mind, to the point where I've vidded this song in my head to footage that doesn't exsist, because the script for it isn't written, let alone shot. And maybe that's cheating, but hey - you can just consider it me being very litteral: this song makes me think of a movie - think up a movie! :D
13.
Pumpkin, Mrs Farnsworth - Interrobang Cartel should totally have fic written about it - though I'm at a complete loss for the fandom.
14. I wish they'd play
Navras - Don Davis in elevators - but I'm fairly certain that's just me. XD
15. I'll stop listening to
Zebra - John Butler Trio when they pry my MP3 player out of my cold, dead hands - though there's a few songs that's true of, this one sprang to mind first. (And Hotel California I can just listen to in my head, anytime, so not that.)
...I tried to actually make a good flow to the tracklist, don't know if I succeded. I'll add links to downloads later - kinda pressed for time right now.
EDIT: I'm slowly but surely putting the tracks up - takes a while. Please, if you download these songs and enjoy them, and want more music by the artists in question, please buy thier albums and/or pay for individual downloads. (Well, except for
Interrobang Cartel - all their stuff is free.) These tracks are up here in the interest of sharing new and different music with people who may never have heard of the artists in question. They'll be taken down after a limited time. Thank you. :)
Hope y'all like!
