I'd just wait for them to ring it up and then dig out the right coins, although I imagine that won't be too easy until you have the different coins down in your memory rather than having to search for them.

Sooooooooooo in October, will you guys visit me and the twins or should I look into scheduling a trip up to you? :)

Well, that was kind of the point that I was making, that I can't calculate the coinage in my head with short notice. I can barely even do that with Australian coins, let alone tiny Canadian money with different denominations and where smaller amounts are not necessarily smaller sizes. /o\

I thought we were coming to Portland? When will it be, by the way?

I fly into LAX on Fri 2nd October; I'll be catching a flight straight up to Portland (as yet unbooked) and heading over to twins. I'm then in Portland for most of a week, I'll be heading over to Denver for Wincon the following thursday.

hahaha sharing a land border, what a strange concept. And the mountains? I hope you don't get over that feeling, it's such a good one to just be walking down the street and have a moment of awe looking up at the mountains above!
