So Liz, you've been in Canada for 4 months now, what have you been up to?

You've done a lot more than me ^.^

I've played a couple of stand-alone RPGs as well. I've just found a campaign that will have some duration, which is great. The DM invited me after I played in another game he ran (a truly bizarre German RPG called "Engel").

The very tragic thing is that I think my parents have been doing more interesting things than I have. Dad did a few months teaching in Jigalong, mum joined him there for a week, then they did a houseboat down the Murray river. And they're coming to see us in 4 weeks time.

nome seems to have big plans for working my character into the plot for his next campaign so that could be interesting. I'll have to buck up and pull myself together!

Well, that makes me feel better. I'd suspected something like it, but never actually put in the research to find out why. Thanks for the explanation!

Aww, I'm sad that you're going to miss it too.

It's the highlight of my spring social calendar!

Hope it goes well. And it's actually on Halloween this year!

Yes, the fact it's on the actual date is both awesome, and worrisome. This is because it's such an awesome date that everyone and his dog are throwing fundraisers and shindigs on the exact same date, and so how am I to know who will come to my traditional annual party and who will be lulled away by the possibly false promise of a better time elsewhere? Nevertheless, I can count on certain friends to definitely be there, and the rest will either come or won't, like they always do. Just as long as I figure out the right amount of food, then success!

I think I have tried tandem biking before, but I am terrible at it. I can direct the bike, more or less, but I have really horrible balance, so we wobble a lot. Also, we go really really slowly.

You should wobble less if you go faster, though! It's a Catch-22 situation.

I know! But I honestly can't make the bike move any faster. :P How sad is that? Probably not helped by the fact that the person sitting on the back seat didn't know how to cycle (hence the tandem bike).

Job woes aside, SO glad to hear that you're having a good time in Vancouver otherwise and I am insanely jealous that you get to say you live there *g*

Haha, don't tempt me with a working holiday visa :) seriously, though, I am aiming yo work/live there in future, and given that Van has a strong film industry and what I'm working in ... *shrug* long term plan, lemme level up here in Oz first and a few years down the track I'll see if I can get an actual working visa and not just a working holiday visa :)

(UBC in autumn!! OMG I miss it T_T)
