I find it quite amusing. This next year is gonna be hard tho. Don't know about your budget, but ours is looking pretty bad. I'm expecting to get pay cuts, more layoffs and still have to find how to spend more money on supplies.

We're doing ok, the swine flu outbreak saved us from the last round of layoffs, but probably won't be enough next time.

I personally think our lab could use some trimming up, and making people do less with more. Maybe it will push some of these old timers to finally retire.

We got a brand new piece of equipment for flu PCR, but other than that, we're just sitting around hoping we can make it with what we have.

Its melamine that saved us... that mess helped extend our grants through FERN.

We already closed our lab in fresno and will have to do more in the near future. The higher ups are still hoping that somehow money magically comes our way. I am not such an optimist.

The whole staff is doing cake and a year end review at the end of day. Tommorow as per usual people will walk around saying HAPPY NEW YEAR. It is weird writing FY10 on everything!
