last week this was going to be a bitter invective against "memoirs of a geisha." too bad i waited too long to write this, so most of my thoughts have escaped me. but i feel like i should do this as a service for people who are considering seeing it in the future.

so over break i went to the dollar theatre with my parents to see a movie. my dad ( Read more... )

Don't go see V for Vendetta. One of hte things I didnt like about..actually the main reason why I though it was only ok..too much chessy stuff. it kinda disturbs me when they TRY to work it into movies and it just DONEST fit at all. it's forced and it really takes away from teh expirience. So just wait til it comes out on video..OR..i can let you borrow it cuase i bought it in brooklyn. =D

Well, I really enjoyed "V for Vendetta." (And if I remember correctly, she doesn't yell while she's in the rain- which is nice, because that would have bugged me, too.) In response to the naysayer, you have to remember that it's from the same guys who unleashed "The Matrix" films on the world. By this I mean, these guys love their visuals. And a lot of stuff is thrown into their movies PURELY for visual effect (a.k.a. the "DAMN, that looks awesome!" effect). So asking a lot of questions and trying to make sense of some things will only detract from the experience. Overall, I thought "V" was a great picture. It's worth it to see Hugo Weaving's ability to convey emotion while wearing a mask throughout the entire film. And maybe to snicker at Natalie Portman's accent, which fades in and out a little bit (...but she's terrific otherwise).

this is true, she didn't shout anything. but i was annoyed by the image nonetheless...

ahh i'll stil most likely go see it, the only thing holding me back are the freakin' $10.50 tickets! and i agree, hugo weaving's pretty cool.
