I hear that in Africa, they cultivate butter types instead of cheese types.
The name for it might be...smel? I don't remember, but it is technically cheese, just butter cheese.

I hope you got my letter. I'll send another one soon. I like the quaintness of mail-communication. It makes me feel like you are on a caravan, a silk-road journey, an adventure.

Heya Lizzie,

It's Nancy from HSU printmaking (and Harli just about everywhere else)! I'm happy to hear you're doing well. Sarah mentions you every so often and I can tell she misses you. =) I'm volunteering at the print lab on Fridays now (zomg keys are nice). We just finished the large woodcut project and are doing silkscreen and ETCHING right now. Yes, we now have a tank full of nitric acid in the courtyard! Plus an extra eye wash--Sarah uses the old one as a drinking fountain now.

My tribal art history class just finished a unit on Ghana and the kente cloth of the Asante. We got to see a few slides showing some textiles being woven and painted. Pretty amazing stuff. It sounds like you're learning some fun things. I hope you have some more interesting adventures soon!

Harli

p.s. I am going to silkscreen chocolate on marzipan this semester. I can't wait.

It sounds fantastic. And even if you feel like you aren't really doing anything, you are. Just being in Ghana is an adventure, and from what I can tell, you're doing and learning a lot of new things.

I've been terribly remiss in writing to you, but I'll try to do better. Like Leah, I enjoy writing and sending actual paper letters, but I just have to remember to do it.
