Argh. I just finished averaging grades for 2nd trimester. Yes, I could have done it over the weekend. But, come on, it was the weekend. Actually, it doesn't ever take as long as I think it will. What grade do you teach ?
I can give you some pointers on how to deal with that *can't even expel me* kid .... (had some personal experience with that in the past) ....
I did some teaching in the past , with handicapped children ...
Mostly autistic and deaf children .

I teach 5th grade at a Catholic school (I'm not Catholic.) For the most part my kids are great, and I really like 5th grade.

This kid does absolutely nothing. He does the absolute bare minimum in class (with me breathing down his neck,) and nothing at home. Last week the principal was threatening expulsion, and his dad didn't even come in to talk with us. This blew me away. I wrote (OK, vented,) about it here, and here. I really am at a loss as to what else to try. He's lost basically every privelage he has and nothing has made a difference. People tell me to use positive reinforcement, but I just can't bring myself to praise him when I have 20 other kids in my class who work as hard as they can everyday. I'll take any advice you have. :)
