Can't help you in terms of making time stop, but in terms of just thinking about things - chill music is good. Zero 7, Snow Patrol (some) are good for this.
Or, just go for a walk. Every free period, if I'm not sleeping, I'm getting a coffee and sitting and just watching people, thinking. You're detached from everyone else, and it's as if time wasn't passing. It's very therapeutic.
