Hey LJ!
There are a lot of things I talk about here that I can't talk about on facebook, and that goes way beyond fandom. (Sure doesn't explain my absence, does it? LOL!) But you know, things like the last two entries. And fandom. Whatever. This is not one of those things.
So I have been salivating over modcloth.com for probably two and a half years or more now. And never ordered anything (usually due to lack of funds, which is still a problem) but also because they generally only carry up to size large. Well they have about five plus size items on the site, (except swimwear, which they have a full line of, w/e) and of course, those items are ugly because stylish websites suck like that.
OMG I HATE YOU LJ YOU NOVEL-LENGTH POST EATER! I have to retype everything after this 'cause it just ate it! It's gonna be much shorter now.
Okay. Anyway. My BMI puts me well into obese territory and puberty did a number on my energy reserves, which means after junior high PE and marching band and color guard in high school I pretty much haven't done any exercise anyway, by and large.
Anyway, so you know how they say to make little goals on your way to bigger goals? Well my first little goal is to fit into a large so I can buy something from modcloth. My ultimate goal is to lose 75 pounds. So I'm gonna post here daily what I've done in the way of achieving those goals and weekly (starting Saturday) how much weight I have lost. I am estimating it's going to take me about nine months, more or less. If I am really awesome I can do it in six and a half and be at my goal by my birthday, but Valentine's day will do, and since that's nine months I'm going to keep that in mind as a guideline if I'm not losing as much as I should be.
Saturday, Sunday, and Monday: Walked two miles
Wednesday, walked two and a half miles. I was really surprised I did that too. Monday kicked my butt! I mean, S&S hurt and everything, but Monday I had had ENOUGH and was REALLY slow and was crying at times during my walk. I was really glad I didn't have a chance to Tuesday, and was terrified when today rolled around that I was going to be crying again. The other days my ankle kept rolling and hurting, my shin kept being REALLY sore, and that muscle in the back of your leg (w/e it's called) was cramping. Today, my shin was just a tad sore and no pain elsewhere! (Although my lungs hitched about a half mile in and scared me, but I recovered quickly). I started and finished today at a much swifter speed than I had the other days and did the extra half mile and still finished well under Monday's time.
Also I feel GREAT. I am always sore and my joints are always tight and basically I usually feel like crap. I thought, there is no way exercise makes you feel better, because it always makes me hurt, but it really does, because I feel WAY better right now. I didn't notice anything until today, but after my walk tonight I am like "woo, no pain in my joints or muscles yeah!"
Anyway, I am posting about this here, and on facebook, mostly for accountability, so that if I start slipping someone will be like "hey, why did you only walk twice this week?" or "yo, you might just be plateauing, which happens to people, but that is usually a sign to mix it up, so maybe add a couple pushups, 'kay?"
(I do have exercise goals/plans. I want to be able to walk 5K, which is 3.2 miles. So after a few days of 2.5, I'm going to bump it up to 3, then after a week or so of that I'm gonna bump it up to 3.5. Once I walk 3.5 for a while, when I start to plateau, I'm going to try running a bit. Eventually be able to run a 5K.)
