 What do you think, is kasha (buckwheat groats) too strong a flavor to be a side dish for scallops? I'm thinking mushroom kasha with herbs.

That is what I was thinking. I'll probably do brown rice... I just want to make something else with kasha tomorrow so it would have been simpler to make lots of kasha at once!

Well, I like kasha, so I'd go with it (but then, I'd skip the scallops, so I may not be the best test case ;) )

I'm biased because I DESPISE buckwheat. It's THE only thing that I will absolutely refuse to eat. There are other things I dislike that, if placed in front of me, I will eat out of politeness. Buckwheat? No. I can't do it.

Kasha could mean anything, and I find other ones much less offensive.

And I like shchi.

Sausage, obviously! I have some Polish kolbasa that I want to serve it with. Also, you know how you can cook pork with sauerkraut? It would go with that.
