I finally made the rosemary focaccia tonight.... it is cooling now. Because I'm crazy, and didn't end up starting it till a bit after 8, because my future roommate came over to give me a check and get keys and such things. And I was showing her some things, and we talked some. Then while the dough was rising, I made chocolate raspberry cookies ( Read more... )

Hurrah for fast-friendly baking! Wyatt spent his Monday night (?) baking bread, cake and cookies. Yum. We've really been enjoying the newness and somewhat-challenge of adapting to fasting foods. Though at this point, our priest has told us not to stress about going beyond cutting meat out of our diet for fast days.

Your trip sounds wonderful! I don't understand sizing in a lot of ways, but I agree that form-fitting hiking pants would be a bad idea. Do you enjoy living in Seattle? Wyatt and I have considered moving up that way at some point and you're one of the only people I know who actually has experience living there. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the area.

I didn't comment on your other post, but your book purchases sound wonderful. I just got the Way of a Pilgrim through ILL and I'm eager to read it-- I've heard wonderful reviews on it. Though, I suppose I should get through The Mystery of Christ first... so many books!

I've thoroughly been enjoying your more frequent posting. :)

Hey there, I kept meaning to reply to you. It can be a challenge to fast, but I think it's really just a matter of getting used to it, and then it's not so hard. Starting with meat is the right way to go....

Sizes are weird, yeah. Seattle--well, I love it! I am from here though. I think it's a good city to live in, I like the weather, and the nature and stuff. It's a big city, but without huge expanses of very urban city. Which is both good and bad, because it means things are spread out.

The Way of a Pilgrim is a good book. As long as you don't expect it to be exactly applicable to your life! There are, indeed, so many books. One of the nice, and yet expensive, things about Orthodoxy!

I am hoping to keep up posting more... it sounds like your exploration of Orthodoxy is going well, I'm glad to hear that.
