On a mundane note.... I have been kind of out of the cooking swing for a few days, it feels like. I made clam-red pepper-mushroom pasta over the weekend though, and today I made soup. It is very good soup. Mushroom broth, plus water with some veggie bouillon, and greens, black eyed peas, zucchini/yellow squash, and orzo. Plus onions and carrots. ( Read more... )

Wow! You're like Iron Chef or something!

LOL, but I think they do it on purpose! And the fire tends to go out right away. :)

How are you doing today?

No one has to know you didn't do it on purpose.

Your soup sounds good! I wish I could cook right now, but all the food smells...ugh.

I'm doing well. Gnarly made the morning very interesting (poor R probably has a bruise from where I pushed him out of the way to get to the bathroom), but it got better. How are you?

Heh. I should totally have a picture.

It is good! Soon, soon, you will be able to cook, I am sure. :)

Sorry the morning wasn't so good, but glad things got better. I am... mostly pretty good really. Kind of stressed out--is being stressed out due to ridiculous emotional issues better or worse than being stressed out due to life? I don't know.

Yikes! I'm glad you are ok.

I set a pot of wax (like for your upper lip) on fire last winter.

Ooh that sounds scary! This actually wasn't so bad, the fire was contained in the pan, I just dumped enough oil in that it didn't go out right away. My roommate afterward said "Well, I could see flames, and I wasn't sure if I should go in there or do something, but you didn't sound concerned." Fortunately, I remembered the baking soda thing!

All was well, we smothered it, but the smoke alarm was blaring, and smoke, soot, and wax were everywhere.

E. has me use the microwave wax now :)

Oh, so this is why you went on your three-day long soup making venture! It all makes so much sense now... ;-)

Soup is good. Soup is very good.

Fire is good. But only sometimes. Other times, fire is very bad. Still other times, fire is not *very* bad but still not desired. I'm glad you remembered the baking soda thing!

(also, interesting to hear about the hierarchy changes, but I don't have anything specific that I can think of to say about them)
