I admit to not knowing that he was ill.

It wasn't publicized much, if at all.

And I don't think his death right now was expected--he served Liturgy yesterday (for the--Old Calendar--feast of the Entrance into the Temple).

I'd read that he'd served a Liturgy for the Feast. Amazing.

He was ill for many years. 4-5 years ago (I don't remember the exact time), we was very ill, we in Russia though he was near the end. But he began to feel better, and clouds disappeared... And now such an unexpectedness...

Very sad. I like the phrasing, though - "has fallen asleep in the Lord today" is very poetic.
