Is it spring yet?

Mar 22, 2014 16:10

Another week gone by and thank goodness a fairly uneventful one. I had a great gym week; 4 days in a row (the first time this year,) followed by a rest day and then this morning, I went to a new yoga studio very close to my house (and just opened) for a practice of 108 sun salutations to celebrate the spring equinox. I may not be able to move ( Read more... )

sounds like quite the nice week. um, what's the significance of 108? i can't walk to a yoga studio where i live, but this week i did start walking around the block while my breakfast cooks. the weather cooperated and so i got 6 minutes of extra exercise every day. it's a start.

good car news?! now that's a miracle. my cars always end up with some oddity that they say - huh, that doesn't usually happen - which tends to cost me even more. so glad to hear you have it better!

oh, homemade bagels, it's been years since i made those - did you boil them? they look very yummy. nice variety for your week's recipes.

we had good enough weather today that i weeded in the front for a bit - i even managed to take a photo of a flower that i like. don't know how much actual planting i'll get to this year, but any will be more than last year. what's you favorite herb to grow? i used to try and grow cilantro, but it always bolts before i use it.

The number 108 appears a lot in India and Hindu culture, but mostly for yoga; there are 108 beads on a mala (used for meditation.) Yoga was part of my regular routine until we moved about 4 years ago. Since then I have not really found a studio/practice that I connected with for long, so I am hoping this one will be the one that sticks.

I was quite pleased about the car and am hoping to have found a shop that I will like.

Thanks. I boiled the bagels first and then baked them. I was very happy with how they turned out. Cooking and baking are really creative outlets for me and make me happy.

I usually grow flat leaf parsley, rosemary, sage (both will produce all year here,) thyme, cilantro, mint, and basil. I would say basil is the one I use most. I tried dill and did not have much luck with that.

Boiled bagels are indeed the best - and fun to make also, I think.

Sounds like a great garden. I could see how basil might be easily the most used in our house also. Maybe I could just do that this year, though I'd like to grow flat leaf (italian we call it?) parsley as we frequently buy a bunch and then waste most of it as the recipes we use use only a little bit.

I used to garden up a storm when I had a 4 ft square piece of land at the roadside of my apartment. Now that I have an actual yard, I barely touch it - much to my neighbors dismay (though the front doesn't look too bad as it's a 'mature' yard.

It's oh so nice to have a mechanic to trust. I've had both kinds over the years, luckily I'm happy with mine now and he's quite a bit younger than me so will probably be in business for awhile.

Happy gardening!
