So I'm at my local farmers market type store, where I buy my fruits and veggies and anything else my little heart desires, and what do I stumble across? Marmite. Sitting right there on the shelf. And here I thought I had to go back to London, or at the very least go to the Brit import store to buy it.

I love NY. :)

It's always fun to find something you don't expect to, isn't it?

I have a friend who is hosting a Seder tomorrow and she can't, for the life of her, find Matzah bread in the SLC/Provo/Orem area. We'll make do without it, but I have a surprise for her. My Dad's coming in from Israel Tuesday and I asked him to bring some authentic Manischewitz "high quality cardboard" (aka Matzah). Can't wait to see her face. :)

Enjoy your Marmite. What exactly is Marmite, anyway?

Hey, I think I've seen the Manischewitz label around here! I'll have to double check the next time I'm in the store. Lots of the delis and lunch places around here provide complimentary 'cardboard' this time of year. I hope your holidays go well. :)

Marmite. Well, to be technical, it is yeast extract (see www.marmite.com for more detailed info...yes, it has a website ^_^). The Brits like it spread on toast, it seems. I decided to give it a go and brought back a small jar from London last month. It was -- interesting. Definitely something that you have to let grow on you, but I need vitamin B12! Hehe, so I'm developing a taste for it. Never thought to look for it in NY before so I was very pleased to see I could get it without going out of my way!

Thanks for that information. Marmite sounds quite... interesting. ;)

The Seder went well. It wasn't traditional by any stretch of the imagination, but it was well organized and a lot of fun.
