Ginny - what can I say? She ROXed. I cannot believe what an incredibly strong, wonderful character JKR has created. She is more than I could have hoped for. She is so bright, and so strong, and she, like Hermione, gave Harry the kick he needed when he was wallowing in self pity, etc. And there is so much more to her that we don't know yet. Wow. Just wow. And, oh, yes, she will end up with Harry. I am more convinced of it now than ever. (And Ron ships H/G - how cute is that?)

I'm with you on this! Ginny KIXED butt and Ron shipping H/G was so darn cute ! dfkfjaslf!

And yes, JKR did warn us. This was just the building up. The next book is the war. JKR has prepared Harry, now I just need to prepare myself.

Yup. JKR did tell us this would be darker and she wasn't kidding. Harry's ready to face what's coming and now I just need to prepare myself.

JKR ROX!

I'm a mom of a just turned into a teen teenager and all my mollycoddling instincts have been aroused :-D. Poor Harry, he is so hitting adolescence with a bang!

And do we need to mention what this has done to any ship that pairs anyone in the Weasley, Malfoy, or Black families? Can we say 'EWWwwwwwwwww' Hehe.

I think that although this book was harsh, what happened must be necessary in order for Harry to do what he has to do - defeat Voldemort. It is, in part, the story of a war, and in wartime the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. (Sorry, Spock just sort of crept in there.) People die, sometimes senselessly, but you have to soldier on.

I never expected that OotP would be like this, but since it is, I am going to put my faith in the author - that somehow things will work out. She loves these characters more than anyone else, so she must be doing all this for a reason.

I thought Ginny was amazing in this, and I actually am glad that Harry and Cho gave it a shot because it completely crushed that ship forever. :D

I also enjoyed the Ron/Hermione bits, and I'm one of those people who think that a lot probably went on between those two when Harry was busy. I had no expectation of snogging or anything like that, so I wasn't disappointed.

I can't honestly say any of it disappointed me, except maybe the portrayal of James ( ... )

I'm glad you weren't disappointed. I really don't understand how anyone could be disappointed with this. It was just so powerful. Yes, it wasn't what we expected, but if we knew what was coming, then it would be no better than a fanfic. (For the record, I don't think it sounded like a fanfic - it did take a lot of fanfic cliches, but only to turn them on their heads, if that makes any sense. Go JKR.)

Thank you Cait. I really, really loved this, and I don't understand how a real fan could not like it. The book is about Harry. Everything that happened makes perfect sense in relation to what has happened to Harry and what we know will have to happen to him. It's not pretty, but it was never supposed to be. I honestly believe that once people take a chance to think about it, talk about it, reread it, they will realize how incredible this book is. I really think it's the best of the series.

BADKATS!
