So, I decide to update LJ for the first time in like 87 years, and what important news do I have to share? Er, well, nothing. I saw this NY thing in Liralen's and Prettyannamoon's LJs and here I am. Come on, you know I can't resist anything about NY. So here it is. See y'all again in 87 years!
This NYC thingy... )

Howdy, stranger!

The funny thing is that even the people who live in the outer boroughs do this, even though they live in the city, too.

It used to crack me up when I lived in Brooklyn and our landlady would ask if we were going to New York. Okay, we were in New York City in New York state, but it wasn't New York enough. Also that she only went to "New York" like once every five years.

Imagine how hard it was for me to remember to say Houston properly!

I didn't know you lived in Brooklyn! Wicked. And I know exactly what your landlady meant -- there was once an article in the NYT interviewing people in the outer boroughs who never went into the 'city'.

You're alive! Woohoo!

I've only touched NYC's cement once and that was to go into Barnes and Noble on Union Square (I *think* it's BN) to buy the paperback US version of PoA to add to my collection. :D.

Yes, it is BN -- I go in that one all the time! You were just a stone's throw away from me.

Once is never enough. I'd say you're due for another trip back. ^_~

I would just like to say that down south you can get an apartment the size of a small house for $1300 a month, in a really nice part of town, and it's considered bull shit. (Although they give you free wine when you tour the apartments.)
In other news, reconsidering NYU, because I could never afford to eat! $5 for a beer? I don't even like beer!!!

Jilly, New Yorkers don't eat. Didn't I tell you that? :D

I get free wine when I get my hair cut. Does that count?

Yes, but do you get a two car garage included in your haircut? I think not.

You updated! Someday I will visit NYC and hopefully gain some insight into this NY thingy I just read. I think the silence here where I live would scare you... but the stars are nice.
