The human mind is a fantastic thing.

It is possible that you have subconsciously blocked out memories of your previous abuse, and now (in a time where you are comfortable) your subconscious is letting you accept them.

It's not uncommon, actually. I have many memories of family vacations where I can't remember specific details and I get a bad feeling in my stomach when I think of them. It is most common with sexual abuse, the mind locks away the bad memories and possibly the ones surrounding them.

I don't know much about head injuries, but I think your subconscious is locking away these memories of pain and times where you were alone or neglected.

I was sexually abused when I was five years old, and it was only a few years ago that I actually remembered it had happened. You somehow just convince yourself that it DIDN'T happen.

I'm sorry, I'm a stranger. XDD I didn't mean to ramble.

Good luck with this though! I hope you get your happy memories back.
