A very random sort of comment-- I love this connection-- but that is one of my favorite parts of The Importance of Being Earnest. When I did the show (playing Gwendolen), the fellow I played opposite was so very adorable as Jack-- he didn't try too hard to make him the stick-in-the-mud that most actors do. He was very warm and lovable... and the way he delivered that line was just magic. :D

"I could deny it if I liked. -takes a moment, looks off into the distance, pondering for a moment, eyebrows up- I could deny anything if I liked. -calls himself back- Yes. But my name certainly is John. It has been John for years."

Chels! I didn't know that you have a LiveJournal. I've just friended you.

I think that it's positively brilliant that you played Gwendolen. And that you had a sweetie-pie Jack (er, yes, that's the Very Learned Technical Name Applied by Literary Theorists, I'm sure). Your description of his pondering and eyebrows is perfect! :)
