the fact is that you are not defined by who loves/doesn't love you or your problems, you are defined by how you deal with those problems and overcome them. the fact that you can still forgive and love your father just proves that you are an amazing person with a true sense of self and forgiveness. you have heart, and no one can tell you otherwise.
my father abandoned me 3 years ago, too. i usually tell people he passed away because i don't like to tell people that he didn't love me enough to be a man and take care of his family. there have been so many times when i've missed him and wished he was there to hug me when i'm sad or lonely. i grew up riding his shoulders and thought he was the strongest man in the world.
i know your hurt over the matter and it's not a situation to take lightly. if you ever need anything you know who will always answer his phone, and most talk to 6 am like old times. god bless
