chanyeol/suho - pg
old habits die hard
"Chanyeol," Junmyeon exclaims in surprise when he exits the library at ten pm and sees his boyfriend of a week standing at the bottom of the staircases. "What are you doing here?"
"Waiting for you?" His tall boyfriend rubs the back of his neck sheepishly, looking embarrassed to be seen even though he had been standing there with purpose.
"Why didn't you come find me then? Isn't it really cold out here?" Junmyeon takes Chanyeol's hands in his and rubs them together gently. Even though it is mid spring, the temperature at night is still relatively low, enough to deter people from staying out for long.
"Kyungsoo told me that you are busy cramming for tomorrow's quiz, so I thought I shouldn't disturb you. And it isn't that cold to be honest." Chanyeol smiles his trademark toothy grin in reassurance even though his chilly hands tell of a different story.
He plucks the heavy school bag off Junmyeon's shoulder and slings it over his own bag. "Your shoulders must ache from all the studying," he stops any form of protest that is coming from Junmyeon, "Yifan called off the practice earlier this afternoon, so I'm still really energetic now."
Junmyeon wants to complain about how he doesn't need Chanyeol to treat him like he's a glass that will break any time soon, but instead he relishes in the warmth that seeps into his being from their entwined hands.
For any other person, they will probably hate it when Chanyeol fills majority of the conversation with little questions pertaining the quiz. But Junmyeon knows that his boyfriend is simply trying to help, and he can't stop the smile from spreading further when Chanyeol looks at him in awe whenever he explains the answers perfectly.
"'Is there a murderer here? No. Yes, I am.' Please explain how this quote foreshadows Richard's downfall." Chanyeol asks when they are rounding the bend to Junmyeon's house.
"This is part of the speech that Richard made after he woke up from his nightmare where he was visited by the ghosts of the people he harmed. From this line, you can see his self-doubt, and it is also the first time he has shown any signs of being confused since the start of the play. This tie in with the confusion he and his army had at the last scene with Richmond." Junmyeon answers thoughtfully, face scrunched up in concentration as he tries to remember all the details from the book.
Chanyeol swivels around quickly, cupping Junmyeon's face. "You'll totally ace tomorrow's quiz. It's like you've the entire Sparknotes in your mind." He praises.
Junmyeon lets out an airy laugh, "Hopefully, I need to maintain my GPA to prove to my dad that dating you isn't as disastrous as he thought."
"You'll do fine. Now go and get some sleep." Chanyeol adjusts the straps of Junmyeon's bag for him before pushing him towards the door.
Junmyeon gives him a quick wave and makes his way to the door before turning around at the very last minute.
"Goodnight," he tiptoes and presses a quick kiss on Chanyeol's lips. "Be careful on your bus ride home." He offers one last wave and lets himself into the house, knowing that he will get a text from the taller boy once the other reaches home safely

"Chanyeol," Junmyeon exclaims in surprise when he sees the taller man outside his office building. "I thought you will only be coming back from Busan tonight?"
"I've finished my stuff early, so I decided to come back in advance." Chanyeol answers, taking Junmyeon's briefcase from him. "It feels weird not to send you home after work. Who knows some weirdo might try kidnapping you?"
"Chanyeol," Junmyeon starts in exasperation trying to grab his bag back at the same time, "I'm twenty-five; I can go home by myself. And you don't need to hold my bag for me every single time."
"I want to," Chanyeol smiles indulgently, slipping his hands into Junmyeon's as they make their way to be bus stop. "And how can I break tradition." He nudges Junmyeon with his shoulders, eliciting a smile from the smaller boy.
The so-called tradition involves Chanyeol sending Junmyeon home every single day. When they were in high school and college, it made more sense seeing how they were from the same campus, and had the same circle of friends. But even when they're adults stepping into the workforce, Chanyeol never broke this habit of his; waiting for Junmyeon to finish his work or commitments for the day before escorting him home. It is slightly ridiculous, Junmyeon thinks, seeing how Chanyeol's house is an hour away from his own apartment, but his boyfriend still did it faithfully, never once complaining about being tired.
Seven years is an awfully long time, Junmyeon realizes; for any couple to stay the same way they were when they first started. Somehow Chanyeol managed to do it, and his love for him can only continue growing endlessly.
Chanyeol dozes off shortly after they get seated on the bus, his head swaying in multiple directions as the bus moves. Junmyeon holds his hands out to prevent the taller boy's head from hitting the windows and mumbles under his breath. "Idiot. How will you know if anyone is harassing me if you sleep on our way home?"

"See you all next week," Junmyeon says cheerfully, wrinkles lining his eyes as he bids his friends goodbye.
He makes a turn to the right knowing that Chanyeol will be sitting at the benches waiting for him.
"How is it today? Did you pawn Minseok in the game again?" Chanyeol asks his voice slightly raspy due to his cold.
"Yeah, Luhan was distracting him throughout the game, so there's no way he can win me." Junmyeon pulls the scarf around Chanyeol's neck tighter. "Why didn't you wait for me inside?"
"Being stuck in a room full of old people playing Yut will make me feel even older." Chanyeol jests, running his fingers through Junmyeon's greying hair affectionately.
Junmyeon simply pouts, "But you're old. Your wrinkles are making your face sag."
Chanyeol laughs uncontrollably, reminding Junmyeon of the many times he feels embarrassed to be seen in public with Chanyeol when they were younger.
"Let's go home," he suggests, pulling Chanyeol off the bench.
"Shall we have kimchi jjigae for dinner?" Chanyeol asks, or rather states since Junmyeon has never learnt how to cook with Chanyeol taking care of all their meals when he moved out of his parent's house.
He gives a slight nod, and rubs his fingers against the back of Chanyeol's hands slowly. Wrinkles that were non-existent now covers the entire skin, leaving no traces of the pretty hands Chanyeol used to have but what matters the most is how it feels in his own hand. And it feels like, he never wants to let go of it.
