Over in Ru_news tritankista says, "By the way, soon we will cancel the paid accounts." "More to the point, and it is not until the spring, we'll explain in detail." What does this mean? What about the people that have already paid for their accounts beyond the spring? Will you offer a refund?

I'm not interested in using livejumblr... The friends pages are horrible looking. Unlike what tritankista thinks my disliking for the "friends feed" is not out of "habit." You're taking everything that makes this site what it is and throwing it away. Do you really think that you're going to get this influx of new users because you changed a layout?

Lj doesn't care and I don't know why I am wasting my time. Good luck in bankrupting your company.

... a package. Lovely. I'm guessing it'll be a "sticker" (to print out and tape up) and a reversal of my "permanent paid" account to "free lol hope you like ads" account. At which point, if nothing else would, that'll be my cue to bail.

truthfully, I don't care. I gave up on this site long ago. I do everything at Dreamwidth, and only crosspost to here. Right now, I"m not seeing any reason to continue to crosspost.

This is how I am beginning to feel, myself.

and it's so sad. This was an *AWESOME* site when I first started here. Not so much any more. :-(

I know. I've been using LJ for almost ten years now. It's really saddening to see it take this path.

I know. I thought that had been that log for me, but it's only been a little over 6 years.

Fortunately, my account's been permanent since 2005. So for me it's not really a major problem that I plan on deleting after I move my images to another hosting place and my ethnography project's done for this semester. I've been using a self-hosted WordPress and DreamWidth for several years now, and damn, I really love my WordPress. DreamWidth needs more variety in active communities, but some of them are picking up and they have been giving me more of my "Old LiveJournal" fix as they do.

If only their ONTD_P and TQC and other such communities picked up, lol.

Your comments interest me. I also am doing self-hosted Wordpress (at http://cahighways.org/wordpress/ ), currently crossposted to Livejournal. Can you take a look at my post at http://cahighways.org/wordpress/?p=6593 ? I'm looking for (a) a plugin that will go through all my stored posts, copy all the images from pics.livejournal.com into my wordpress media gallery, and adjust the posts accordingly, and (b) confirmation that with the LJ crossposter, all I need to do is change the host to www.dreamwidth.org in order to make the mirror on dreamwidth. I'm also a long-time permanent user (I think perm since 2008), so I've been reluctant to move... but this most recent change may be the straw... combined with the rumors.

I wouldn't know how to do that any way other than manually, i.e., upload everything onto my own hosting instead of LJ. I'm not an expert on WordPress; they make it really easy for those of us who don't code well.

Do a search on plugins regarding image import -- there appear to be some that might do the image stuff, but I haven't tried them. I guess I should go see if there is a wordpress community here on LJ or on DW.

How are you crossposting to DW? I'm guessing you're using the LJ Crossposter plugin.

(By the way, feel free to take a look at my blog to see how I've got stuff set up).

Well, I suppose you could always try them... since you're the one that seems to want to find said plugins.

I'm crossposting from DW. They have a crossposting feature.

Crossposting from DW to LJ is awesome. It's just so easy. Set it up and forget it.
