Thank you for these clarifications.

It would be absolutely fabulous if English-speaking users could get important news about the site at the same time as the Russian-speaking userbase does. But I guess I don't really care, since I'm going to stop using LJ for good when the beta friends feed is forced on us. I understand that some changes are necessary to make improvements, but I intensely dislike the way that this new format and many of the other changes seem designed to change this from a blogging/journaling site to something more like tumblr or Facebook. Don't get me wrong, I use both of those sites, but I don't use either one of them for the purposes for which I use LJ (and now--and soon only- Dreamwidth).

I 100% agree with you. If news was released at a universal level, the misunderstanding would never have happened, but if I'm being honest even turning the infinite scrolling off isn't going to be enough to keep me around, and I've been here for over ten years now. The new update page combined with the new "feed" page is like a double-whammy :( I'm thinking it's about time to blow the cobwebs off that DW account I've had laying around since 2009... I hate the thought of leaving here after so long, but in all honesty, there isn't enough content on my FL any more to make it scroll at all!
