Release #116.3

Jun 17, 2014 10:23

Based on the feedback we've received regarding the redesigned version of the site, we've decided to keep the option to continue using the old friends page! As of this release, you can still view your friends page by using the same URL you always have (http://exampleusername.livejournal.com/friends), and can also use the new version using the new URL format (http://exampleusername.livejournal.com/feed).

Please be aware that if you previously opted in to using the new friends feed style, you will still be redirected unless you:

1) Switch to using the site's old design.
2) Go to your friends feed, and click the link at the top of the page to use the old version of the friends page.
3) Return to using the redesigned version of LiveJournal.
4) Visiting your /friends page will no longer redirect to the /feed URL.

We are aware that this is not ideal behavior and it will change in the near future.

We also want to let you know that this is not a comprehensive list of all the changes we're planning to make to the redesigned site scheme. We're still working on making many additional changes including customization options for the friends feed, color changes, resolving font issues, and menu options.

Other features & changes:

  • Comment subject lines now appear in the comment menu bar rather than the body of the comment.
  • Replying to a comment with no subject will no longer cause the subject field to auto-fill with "RE:" in it.
  • The text color when typing a comment is now black instead of grey.
  • The Link List is now available as a widget for the Friends Feed, and uses the same data as your journal style's link list.
Bug fixes:

  • The Mass Edit Privacy tool works again.
  • The Comments widget on the friends feed now provides an accurate count of new comment notifications.
