The soviet russia jokes are swiftly becoming very boring. But the committee sounds interesting. How exactly it's going to work is intriguing me a little. Thanks for the update, ljstaff (I miss not knowing an exact name :/).

HOW DARE YOU SUGGEST PEOPLE COME UP WITH NEW UNFUNNY JOKES?!

I just feel people should be aware of what has gone before them, pause in posting their comment and think 'wait. could a cat macro or some other form of internet humour say this better?'

I quite enjoyed the icon of the comment above mine, for example.

I like how they say 'some users' when about 99.99% of the comments made on the posts were about those issues

I agree this is an issue; it's a problem caused by a lot of people speaking apart.

I've put something together to try and fix that: ljspeaks. Something you might be interested in.

"Some users" was probably meant in the context of the total number of users. I don't think that "some users" and "99% of comments" (or whatever the actual proportion is - I haven't checked) aren't incompatible. It just means there's a few (comparatively) very vocal users. :-)

We don't need an aristocratic Wikipedia-style cabal. We need reliable transparency and a return to a LiveJournal's libertarian roots.

Anything else is self-fluffing crap.

I have been saying the same thing, but I sincerely doubt the abilities of typical people these days to form a coherant and integral group without some impetus of suffering.

what would be the best way to maintain this sort of root structure even while the aristocracy is more successful in getting this "advisory position" thing up and running?

Since June. Early June. August is when they said they'd get it to us "in a couple of weeks."

It was late May! I watched the finale to Shear Genius! I've forgotten who won :(

They're hoping we'll eventually forget that they promised us that policy document.

This eases my mind somewhat, but not completely. You mentioned freedom of expression for religion, but not for politics or taste and decency. As long as my taste isn't illegal (ie child porn) it should not be under question.
