How will the voting be done then? LJ polls don't support preferential voting. It would be REALLY REALLY good if they did though, so if you want to implement that as a new feature it'd be good.

Another new comm to watch...

We've created a modified poll structure for this. Part of the process was creating a function to close a poll but continue to display the final result, which is live for all users now. Some of the other modifications might be available in the future as well.

Cool. Us voting systems geeks would really like preferential voting. And we also hate the horrid neologism of "instant-runoff", but you are USian so you're allowed. Well, forgiven, anyway...

Instant-runoff is only one preferential voting method among hmm, a dozen or so IIRC?

Next, any user who puts themselves forward will need to obtain 100 comments of support in order to become a candidate. We ask each user who would like to support a candidate or candidates to comment stating "I support this nomination" or words to that effect.
Er, what's to stop people from creating multiple accounts and supporting a whole lot?

This is going to be full of SO MUCH WANK OMG.

It's going to be fucking ridiculous. I wonder if anyone we know will run. It's almost certain we'll be within six degrees or something. This is going to be very silly and entertaining.

(Icon love!)

:D Six degrees of LJ Pseudo-popularity? Sound like my high school elections (except for the LJ part). My votes were always easily gained through bribing with candy.
