The abuse team

I keep seeing references to my great misunderstood quote being used as some sort of argument that the LJ Abuse team is incompetent.

Let me clear this up: The LJ Abuse team works their asses off, and they're very consistent.

The problem boils down to:

• I don't talk with the abuse team often enough, but they try to do what they think I'd want.

I hate to beat a dead horse here, and I'm not sure if you're all that familiar with the situation, but there were a few users associated with salj that I think were suspended just for being members of the community and nothing more, but of course maybe I don't know the entire story. With the appeals process you have coming up, and let's just go by theory here, would they be allowed to appeal at all? As far as I know, all of the people I know of (thedestructor, futhman, missarrow, painted_earth, etc) were completely banned from the service. Would you listen to an old case or is that decision final?

I'm mostly curious because I'm sure there are some users who think that they deserve a second/third/millionth chance and I'm sure they'd like to voice an opinion on their matters.

Ugh.. If I were a lawyer, id be looking at LJ with dollar-sign's in my eyes.. Just be really careful on how close to the edge of the law you skirt.. You might think you have an open and shut case, but dont forget how close the 9th circuit court in SF is to you guys.. The'll side with whoever cries more on the stand. :(

Id hate to see you guys get killed by some dumbass looking to make a few dozen million.

I was thinking the same thing. Brad, kudos to you for trying to be so fair and public with all of this. But please remember that some out there have just decided that the world owes them and could care less about your intention to be fair and thorough. Please consult an attorney before you do this.
