Yah - I use Dystopia because I hate the mouse-over links with a rabid frothing frenzy, but the orange-and-purple color scheme is... yeeaaaaah. I don't *like* it, but I use it anyway. Being able to change the color scheme on Dystopia would be dreamy.
To clarify what I like most about Xcolibur is more the result of top-side navigation rather than the location itself. I prefer viewing unstyled comment pages (and the rest of the 'main' site) at full browser width, rather than shrunk to fit a sidebar nav.
In all honesty, I didn't know we could go back to Dystopia, but if I had, I probably would have never started using XColibur. It took me a long time to figure out where things were and I still have problems sometimes... some of the sub-headings just don't make sense to me. However, I can say that I like that a lot of the menu is hidden by the mouse-over feature... it makes the page look less cluttered. When I am in a hurry, though, I always wish for Dystopia because it is harder to click the wrong link.
XColibur honestly looks really ugly to me. It has more direct links than Dystopia (to things like the /customize/ page, etc), but the entire layout seems ugly, and the mouse-over links are a pain. When I'm trying to navigate somewhere from an XColibur page, I usually have to try three or four times to actually get to the link I want, and I have a fairly steady mouse-hand.
It's a lot more convenient to use Dystopia for everything, since the links for everything I regularly use are right up at the top of the sidebar in a nice, stable location, or else they're in the top bar. I switched to the S2 style system, which makes editing my layout a little more annoying, but overall Dystopia is much better.
I also don't like looking at my default icon constantly, and I'd rather see blue/purple/orange/white than blue-and-white.
