popularity on livejournal

LiveJournal is primarily a journaling site, rather than a social networking site, and so it's interesting to note that there's a different way of judging who the "popular" "influential" users are. I know that there aren't many people who are universally recognized, but I'm sure you can all think of someone who's highly respected in your group of ( Read more... )

Nice bit of feedback that :/

I know, huh?

My real feedback would be, in part, that being articulate and writing interesting observations (be they about politics, life .. whatever, both fictionalized and not) contribute to positive notice.

I'd also add humorous posts to that. My favourite journals, on my friends list, are those that make me laugh. I don't think there's enough appreciation for interesting observations from the majority of the lj userbase, or at least those in the teenage bracket. Maybe that's just my friends list, I'd love to branch out a bit and reach more people.

In other words, I'd like to see original posts - not a post about what they had for breakfast that day.

itä snot just how mnany people have friended your LJ; it's how many of them read and comment and not just skim.

Also, community participartion is almost a must to become LJ-popular.

I don't know...I think a friends-of of more than, say, 500 is a pretty good indication of popularity. Even if 75% of them just skim, that's still a whole lot of people reading your journal.

True, plenty of people read posts and just don't comment. I do it myself, as I do with most blogs outside LJ. If I have nothing to add to the post then why comment?

How many communities that person moderates, how recognizable their lj sn is to people even if they've not been friended. And even can be how many people use the graphics design.
