Website performance - Apr. 12 (PDT) update

Hello everyone, here is the update from the weekend. I will cover the 2 points from the previous lj_maintenance posts so we can close the loop on them.

Speed up the way our user information is pulled out of our databases.There were 2 more emergency patches released this weekend that have been helping the situation. We will continue to look at ( Read more... )

We did just finish the mysql upgrades on Friday. We started tuning on Saturday. :)

Just an unrelated performance note:

My access to journals on LJ completely cut out today until I blocked the script for sharethis. Just a note. Sharethis' servers appeared to be non-responsive at that time

It's always risky to make your basic functioning dependent on a third party being up.
