In a vain attempt to recoup rusty programming skills, I've recently created a "friendsmap" app that gets the locations of an LJ user's friends/friends-of, tries to work out said locations' latitude/longitude by querying Google and Multimap, and displays the result on a Google Map. Hey, it's open-source (though I haven't added the UTF-8 encoding stuff to the posted source yet) - tweak/add whatever you like and lemme know.

that was pretty neat! i got a few "non fatal errors," so maybe you should add a line explaining that this only works if your friends list their locations.

You should ad their default icon to the popup.
