I saw that the people on our friends lists were "Mateys" and I thought that was totally awesome. =D

I agree, I thought it was hilarious.

Some people have suggested they keep it that way, or something similar ("Mates", perhaps?), given how many people dislike calling it "friends".

to many, a "mate" is one who you are romantically involved with. and possibly within "biblical knowing" territory.

i don't think we'd like to have that instead of "friends." i know i wouldn't.
