run-off vote

Mar 08, 2007 23:09

As someone observed in the comments, the final tallies are so close together that we might as well have a run-off vote. So a run-off vote we shall have:

Poll

Vote through 11:59pm Eastern Time, Saturday, 10 March 2007. :)

EDIT: Voting is now closed! At the close of voting, the votes were 77-76 in favor of nikolasco.

I think we had a pretty good set of candidates and I'd have been happy enough with any of them really :) They all seemed like they had something to bring to the job and would take care of the community. Someone toss a coin for me?

Why not just do what many other communities do and have 2 maintainers?

I thought about that, but it's not really necessary for this community -- there's such a low volume of entries posted here that 2 maintainers would just be overkill. :-/ (Though I'd love it if the community picked up and we had a need fore more than one maintainer!)

It's just that they both look to be good, reasonable candidiates so it would be a shame to drop either, and two is always useful if one or the other goes on holidays or whatever - I normally have a second maintainer in communities that I've set up just so there's a fall back position for if for some reason I'm not around :-)

That's not bad thinking, in my opinion. Granted the community's not active, but sometimes individual's lives are. And someday it'll be more active (I can hope). Then again, if they don't feel that to be currently necessary...

OT: I like your interests list (if we had room for more, half of what you have would be on mine), but...what's a "wibbling", precisely? o.0

How many recounts are we going to do this year, Al Gore?

I think if you're going to have another poll, it would only be fair to have the poll run for as long as the first one did and to also not run it immediately following the first poll. There are probably a lot of people who aren't even aware that they need to vote again, seeing how the second poll did not get as much advance warning as the first poll did.

Since the first poll ran from Monday through Thursday, it would make more sense for the second poll to also run from Monday through Thursday instead of Friday to Saturday.

By the way, I am only saying this because I think it's ridiculous to have a second poll in the first place.
